Dance, Dust & Darlings

Last weekend Abby and Micon went to the Sweetheart dance. This was a girl's choice dance. Abby invited a boy named Mitchell and Micon asked another exchange student. His name is Yoshke and he is from Japan. Since Micon can't drive, Eric and I spent the evening driving them around.

On Monday, Paige, Bailey and their kids came to Idaho Falls to help me with some of the bigger cleaning jobs I have on  my list. They arrived in the afternoon. We didn't get much done that day. On Tuesday we jumped in... Bailey and I tackled the kitchen. I wanted to clean out the cupboards and organize them in case a buyer comes in and opens them. Amazing how much more room I have since we dejunked. In the meanwhile Paige tackled the job of painting the master bath. It looks so much better. We also dusted the silk plants and the tops of the cupboards. Yuck! There was a lot of dust up there.
Bailey out did herself... my spices are alphabetized!

Old pans that I haven't used in years are gone!

Dusting the silk plants..All the other stuff on the counter was the growing DI pile.

And finally, my little darlings.... I love my grandkids!
Miles was at the bottom of the stairs and Leslie and Brooke were at the top looking down.

I know it is blurry but it has a good story behind the photo. Miles wanted to bring the chair upstairs but his mom wouldn't let him so he set it up at the bottom on the stairs and sat in it while looking up the stairs. He was prettty cute.
Valentine's Day came and went. I sure miss my sweetie! What a nice surprise to have the doorbell ring and beautiful roses arrive. He's a keeper! Can't wait until we are together again.

January happenings

Here are some happenings in the Robertson home during the month of January.
My parents and my Aunt Marilyn came to visit for a night. It sure was good to see them.
Miles and Kay Grandma

Miles with Kay Grandma and Jesse Grandpa. Miles liked to steal Grandpa's cane.

Chef Miles...helping his mom make cookies.

Bailey and Miles...Our little Celtics fan.

Rudolph...Miles went to the dentist with me. He was so excited to go to the playroom that he tripped and fell and got a rug burn on his nose.

Abby's senior pictures arrived. We got her in the frame and put her on the Senior wall.

January 25 was Micon's 17th birthday. She had a little party with friends from school and some other Taiwain exchange students that live in Rexburg. The evening was filled with Just Dance 4 and a scary movie that didn't get watched all the way  because they got too scared. I think Micon is thinking of her wish in this picture.

Eric was able to come home twice this month. I was really surprised that he made it in the first time. SLC got a ton of snow. He always flies into SLC and then catches a connecting flight to Idaho Falls. The flight usually gets in at 10:45 pm, but this time it was midnight. We are glad he made it. Then on Sunday evening when he was supposed to fly out the flight was cancelled. (I was happy since that meant an extra day together). He was not happy to miss work. This past weekend was his second trip home. Again he was able to fly into SLC, but the flight was delayed so he missed the last connecting flight. Delta in Houston said they would put him up, but Delta in SLC said they wouldn't since the delay was weather related and there were no vacancies due to the Sundance Film Festival. Needless to say he spent a very uncomfortable night in the SLC airport. He said it was very noisy. He then caught a shuttle to Idaho Falls. So we finally got him home on Friday at noon. During church on Sunday he received a text that his flight was cancelled and they rebooked him on a Monday night flight. (I was happy again) He was not happy to miss work again. He has to take personal days when this happens. He flew out Monday night to SLC but because his flight was delayed leaving IF he missed his flight to Houston by 2 minutes. Delta booked him on a 1 a.m. flight to Atlanta then he caught a flight from Atlanta to Houston. If this keeps up, he may just decide that coming home is too hard. On a happy note...he passed his fourth bagpipe test and only has one more to go. He hopes to get that one passed off in February and then he can join a bagpipe band in Houston.

I have had two realtors out to do market analysis on the house, and to "apply" for the job of being our realtor. I haven't gotten the reports yet. I liked both of them so I may have to put their business cards in a hat and draw one. The realtor in Houston is sending us some listings. I guess this means things are starting to get serious. Isaac, Miranda, Abby and I are going to Houston for spring break. We (Eric and I) hope to get a home picked out then.

I have enjoyed having Bailey and Miles here. Chad is driving their stuff from Philly right now. They will move to Paige's house at the end of the week. My house will be so quiet. Miles adds a lot of good noise.

Temple Square

We have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Bailey's family. Their flight was scheduled to land in Salt Lake City on Saturday. We (Me, Isaac, Abby, Micon) decided to make a day of it and go see the lights on temple square. We rented an SUV so we could all ride together and away we went.

After meeting the plane and collecting the luggage we headed to Crown Burger for lunch. Isaac had heard that they have the best burgers in Utah. I think that fact is still up for debate, in my opinion. We enjoyed visiting for a bit and then we headed to the City Creek Mall. We planned to meet up with Paige's family there. We mostly walked around. Not much buying...except for some chocolates.

Here are some pictures of the day. I left the camera in the car at the airport so I didn't get any pictures there.

Meeting up with Paige's family at City Creek Mall

On the move....heading over to temple square.

Missing Eric and Miranda but here are the rest of us in front of the reflecting pool. Minus me..I had the camera.

I wanted a picture of my grandkids in front of the temple. Their moms were helping to hold them. Poor Miles had had enough for the day. In his defense, he had been up since 4:00 am and only had a short nap on the plane. Leslie and Brooke are wondering about their cousin.

So glad to have Bailey home. We stopped long enough for a photo in the visitors center.

Leslie and Abby wanted in a picture too.

Grandma and the cutest grandkids in the world!!

On might think this is a photo of Paige and Leslie. However it is really just a decoy so we could take a picture of the guy from Kid History. Paige recognized him and told me to take a picture. He is the guy in the black coat. I think he knew what we were up to.

Beautiful lights on Temple Square

New Backsplash

The backsplash board that was originally installed in our house 13 years ago was falling apart. We decided to put a tile backsplash in. Here are some pictures of the process.

Before

Another before shot

Another before shot. The new backsplash will reach from bottom of the cupboards to the countertop.

Here is a photo of the tile being installed.

Almost done...just needs to dry overnight and then be grouted in the morning.

The finished product.

Another view of the finished product. And since the tile guy had the stove pulled out I was able to clean behind there too. I would love to have new countertops too, but since we are selling the house that is not going to happen.

Thanksgiving 2012

THANKSGIVING 2012

One of the best things about being together is playing games. This past week was filled with Boggle, Monopoly, Quizzler, Wii, and Yatzee! Here are Miranda and Isaac playing a Monopoly card game.

Turkey Trotters - Paige, Eric, Miranda, Marie, Isaac, Brent, Remmi and Leslie carrying on a Ralph Vernon Robertson Thanksgiving day tradition. We went on a 2.5 mile loop near our house.
Grandpa Eric (Pop-Pop) reading a story to Leslie. Miranda is listening in too!
Brooke is entertaining the crowds. She was very happy to wear Uncle Isaac's hat.
Isaac is trying very hard to turn Brooke into a gangster. She is just too cute!
On the Friday after Thanksgiving we headed to Pine Creek Pass to cut Christmas trees. There was not very much snow. It was such a nice day, we ended up shedding our coats, gloves and hats.
Miranda chopped her own tree down. She wanted one for her apartment in Pocatello. What a woman!
Leslie really wanted to play in the snow...too bad there wasn't much.
Eric and Brent...real manly men! The carried our trees down the mountain.
Brent, Leslie, Remi and Brooke pose by the downed tree for a family shot.
Our truck is in Texas so we took the Durango up to haul the trees. We were hoping someone would see how great this vehicle is and want to buy it. We don't want to take it to Texas with us.
Leslie helped decorate the trees. She wanted her picture taken by the tree in the piano room. I love putting the Santas that my very talented sister-in-law hand carved for me on the tree. I look at each one. They all have their own little personality.
Leslie wanted to pose by this tree too, but she thought it was more fun to stand on Isaac. Notice the stockings are hung by the chimney with care. In hopes that St. Nicholas soon will be here.

Now it is Monday and everyone has gone home. Micon and Abby or off to school and I am left in a very quiet house. I am slowly getting things back in order. I stopped to blog when I was putting the camera away. Many of my friends have been posting what they are grateful for on Facebook.
